Media awareness finally hits Brisbane

The Mary River Dam issue is slowly making an impact on the Brisbane media.

A recent  online poll on ABC Brisbane collected 2120 votes in total on the issue - the largest response in recent times. The outcome  was 77% against the proposition that building more dams in SE Queensland is the solution to Brisbane's water problems.

There have now been been numerous radio and television interviews on the issue.

To date the Gympie Times and ABC rural (Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay) have provided the most comprehensive reporting of the issue.  The Courier Mail has eventually noticed the issue and is starting to provide some good news coverage. They are now running several blogs related to water and specifically the Traveston Crossing Dam proposal.  See our information links page and search these online news sources discussing the Mary River dam for the latest breaking news.

There is an excellent archive of online articles in held by the Sunshine Coast Eco News.

As the political  desire for the dam originates largely from Brisbane's expanding water consumption, this is the media forum which needs to discuss efficient use of water, provoked by the Mary River Dam issue.
