SAVE THE LUNGFISH  (click here for information)

The Australian Lungfish (Neoceratodus forsteri) is under serious threat from Dam projects on the Mary and Burnett Rivers in southeast Queensland. These rivers are the last stronghold of the Lungfish, which has specific breeding requirements including the availability of shallow, well vegetated river habitat. These Dam projects pose a severe risk to the survival of this unique species which is already listed as threatened.

Mary River Turtle Petition

The seasonally variable Mary River is actually the last remaining habitat for several of the country’s endangered species. One of these is the Mary River Turtle Elusor macrurus , but other endangered and vulnerable species of this catchment include the Southern Snapping Turtle (Elseya albagula), Mary River Cod (Maccullochella peelii mariensis), Queensland Lungfish (Neoceratodus forsteri) and Honey Blue-eye (Pseudomugil mellis), just to name a few! The Mary River is clearly a unique habitat that provides specific requirements for all of these species that are found nowhere else in the world.

Federal EPBC petition

An extremely important petition to help ensure that the effects of these dams are properly and independantly reviewed under the Federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act
