Hairymick - have read your other postings as mentioned above. Good suggestions from that forum master, though some have already been tried.
We have been trying to get Australia Zoo to support us for 2 years - won't have a bar of it! Probably because they get so much Qld Govt financial support.
There are quite a few other 'celebrities' who have voiced their concern - John Butler Trio, Heidi double-surname to name a couple. Academics who have also openly voiced their criticism include those who were the 'champions' for the Earth Dialogues Conference just under 2 years ago (Prof Ian Lowe amongst others). This was a cynical exercise put on for the benefit of the state elections that year, with Mickael Gorbachov as the guest. A great conference with fantastic suggestions that never really made it to the final recommendations (they were forgotten somewhere in the weeks following!). Hosted also by Barry Jones and Philip Adams, with Qld MP Rod Wellford as the primary state representative. I have just begun an annoying regular letter scheme to these guys, asking what they've done since the event, and telling them what has actually happend in that time. Have a look at my report on this thread:

Also, whatever happpened to the "Brisbane Declaration" that came out of the Riversymposium last year? Great recommendations - happily forgotten about because they were too uncomfortable, I suppose.

Rev Watt and Elaine,
Thank you for your responses.
And a big thank you to all concerned who made me feel so welcome yesterday. For me, it was a wonderful and humbling experience.
I am very new here but am only too happy to do whatever I can to help.
I have created a photobucket account and am in the process of uploading the images I took yesterday. I am only on dial up and it is taking a little time. Amm attempting to add captions. Will post a link when I am done. I don't pretend to be a great, or even good photographer but if anybody has any use of any of them, please feel free.
BTW, Does any body here have Peter Garret's email address?
I like this one.
