2009 has barely taken a breath and they are at it already. A QWIPL staffer has apparently approached a neighbour who has held out against selling his land to the government, and told him QWI will be seeking approval to aquire his still-cropping property to begin establishing tree plantations to offset environmental impacts of the proposed dam.

This is apparently supposed to occur as early as some time in February 2009. How devastating is that is this legacious world we live in, when there are rolling contracts to supply his popular crop over 2 year periods... let alone the loss of his newly built home and farming property.
So I guess QWI is determined to try to lever us off our properties approved or not, regardless of the 4 or 7 year posponement of the construction of the proposed dam.
Another little snippet we heard ... the ex dairy property next door, now owned by QWIPL down Goomong Rd, is to be the proposed 'wash down' site for all of the dam construction vehicles if the dam is approved.

The little dirty tricks department is back on deck.

Reminds me of a movie title ... The Big Squeeze....

I wouldn't have thought they could acquire a property before they have got the go ahead to build this proposed dam.
In the Sup. EIS Timber Qld has stated that they could get one tree crop off between stage 1 and stage 2 on land that is usually unavailable for tree growing . as it is good agric. land and being used to produce food etc [my words] So if they get the go ahead the valley will be used for tree cropping, all the flats out of stage 1.
Wonderful use of land!!!!! I suppose when one consideres the Tax advantage for this [for non farmers!] and Carbon Credits we will be lucky to have any land available for food production in the future.
They are all mad and suffer from tunnel vision Rolling Eyes

Yes .. tunnel vision and all this nonsense, thinking about spin for a dam has rendered their grey matter 'water-logged'...

Without going into details, some of the land being taken by QWI is leased to the individual concerned, and QWI appears to have a track record of shortening leases abruptly when it suits their purposes. Other property involved in this is owned outright by this family.

Could it be that QWI is expecting Peter Garrett and P. Wong to 'approve' the construction of the dam sometime in February, with the proviso that more work is done on various aspects of the EIS, therefore allowing the tree planting to continue across various properties around the dam footprint. Rolling Eyes
February coincides with what we expect will be a slightly early State election here in Queensland. Coincidence? I think not. Evil or Very Mad
