The evaporation figures quoted for the proposed dam is 520 mm
This figure is arrived at with this little sum
nett loss =[ pan evaporation x lake factor] + seapage - rainfall
they have used the Nambour figure of 1318 mm annual evap. to get the 520mm result
BUT 3.2 [tech. report]
In the tech. report on Hydrogeological investigation by Golders Assos.
the figure of 1500mm is quoted as the expected evaporation rate, their fig. is based on records of Gympie and Imbil weather stations. Surely the 1500 is a more likely fig. no doubt just a bit more creative work to get the answer they want.

Whats NAMBOUR got to do with evaporation near Gympie? Why not get really extreme and use Charleville?

Of course Nambour is 1318 and Gympie is 1500- a difference of 122mm on the side of the government proposal.

This is not just an error- it is criminal negligence.

Hi

I have to run RMA4 on RMA2 dynamic simulation with a rate of evaporation.
RMA4 works fine if the solution of RMA2 has not evaporation rate.
When i try to run RMA4 with a RMA2 dynamic simulation with evaporation rate I obtain this error:

...
Fatal Error Detected in MAIN. RA-Card Conflict. STOP.
RMA2 Rainfall or Evaporation Status. Flag IREC2 = 1
RMA4 Rainfall or Evaporation Status. Flag IRAEV_R4= 0
Consitency is required to achieve a correct solution.

RA-EV

Any suggestion?
Thanks.

Hi Celeste,
sorry, this isn't really a technical forum - we're just a group of people intent on understanding (and stopping) the Queensland government's flawed proposal to dam the Mary River in Queensland, Australia.

However, we do our best to be helpful, especially to new members.

According to the RMA4 documentation http://www.hydrosoft.co.kr/water/sms/documents/s_rma4.pdf RMA4 can use RMA2 simulation results with evaporation, so long as you re-specify the evaporation rates in RMA4, using something called the RA card. See pages 20, 44, 74 and 113. From the error message you reported, it seems you either haven't done this or not done it correctly.

Maybe when you get the chance you can browse around the www.savethemaryriver.com website and become a friend of the Mary River. We have supporters from all around the world, and it would be great to add Belgium to the list. We'd value your insights.

Good luck.
