No matter what laws, policies, conditions, promises etc are made about protecting environmental flows, interbasin transfers ALWAYS destroy the donor river basin, and quite often wreck the recipient basin as well - take Australias crying shame, the destruction of the Snowy River and the Murray Darling Basins.
This is why we don't want any more interbasin transfer out of the Mary River! This is why people don't want the Tillegra Dam in the Hunter!
How many rivers are we willing to destroy forever for the sake of one or two generations of false economic promises!
