I had no idea until reading Glenda Pickersgil's comments in the Fraser Coast Chronicle (see Media Watch Section on forum FCC 23/11/09) that Garrett had approved the proponents claims that the dam would not affect the Great Sandy Strait.
So I went to the EPBC site and looked at the above document for the first time.

I am gobsmacked.
I have been waiting, like you all, for the final report to come through so we can properly scrutinize the Federal Governments reasons for making the proposed 'no' decision.
I had concluded to myself that when Garrett referred to Lungfish, Cod, Turtle and 'other things' he was referring to the aforementioned three, plus the Fig Parrot and such 'things' as the detrimental impacts on the Great Sandy Strait.
How could he approve that part of the dam under the EPBC Act?
I guess we'll know more when they release the final report.
