No, it's bad stormy. There is still all those other 500 or so and it's only temporary. It'll be done in stages. If they need more water after the first stage they'll lift the wall and go back to the original plan of 870 properties. That means those on the waters edge and buffer zones now, will have their dreams taken in six or seven years instead of in the start. I wasn't there so I only know the tidbits that I was told on the phone. Every detail will soon surface I'd say.
We must stand even stronger now and fight for those that are still within the new proposal boundaries. We will never give up on them. |

I've got the map in front of me. Around most of the circumference of the dam, the boundary has only moved a couple of hundred meters.
It doesn't go as far up the creek beds, so Kandanga and Imbil towns are a bit further away. (Kandanga cemetery is still in the flood zone though).
The other significant change is in the areas approx 1km North and South of Tuchekoi Road, where the floodline has moved a fair bit.

This is really cruel, for a few minutes there I really thought there was a significant change - but it's worse really because those not intended for immediate resumption can now sit on tenterhooks for 20 years or so if
BBB gets his way. Do you think the labour governmentt has a soul or just are soul? _________________ Peter beattie (big hat no cattle) A Bligh (big ar$e no *!*$) |

Troy,
I don't know - they were handed out at the meeting.
If you want to search for it the title is "Proposed Mary River Dam Project - likely maximum storage level" Date 4-7-06, Plan No. DLM001 |
