Fossils fuels, peak oil, one lot say's its running out, one lot say's we haven't even scratched the surface. The enclycopedia say's fossil fuel is an unproven theory. As for the weather it is alway's changing regardless.
Anyway onto desalination. everyone say's it uses too much power and our coal fired powerstations would generate too much additional pollution. Yet Oil companies have hydrogen technology (and are employing it in Scotland and California) they use the residue from oil refining, ( recycling) for their power stations. Hydrogen is a very clean burn. What is to stop Caltex building their own desal plant and mini power station powered from its refining residue to supply its water needs, given its proximity to the Brisbane River? If they can pick up a few customers nearby then good luck to them. About time we got rid of this idea that the government should provide the necessaties of life. Imagine if the Beattie government was responsible for food production! |
