LOL I found this quite funny. To me it sums up the media's HO HUM boredom of this whole election campaign, if this is all they can report on.
Sadly it possibly reflects the publics view as well.

THE Liberals have written to the party's rank-and-file urging them to swamp the media with conservative propaganda and complaints about Heather Beattie's cookies.

Despite a key Coalition campaign slogan being "real doctors . . . not spin doctors", southside branch members have been asked to help divert public attention from "petty" issues about Liberal leader Bruce Flegg and instead focus on Beattie Government failings.

Liberal campaign director for Mansfield and Bonner's Federal Electorate Council chairman Russell Egan sent the request in an email to local members on Sunday.

The email said: "With only two weeks until election day, the Liberal(s) must influence public opinion and change the focus from petty issues regarding the people and focus on the Government's performance.

"Several avenues are: The Courier-Mail's letters to the editor and blogs (which) . . . are quite active and are dominated by writers who are clearly Labor stooges.

"When the TV stations run inane stories about Heather's (Beattie) cookies, or Bruce's (Flegg) army pension, ring in and tell them you don't care about these distractions.

"Write into your local paper and tell them your opinion about the local member's performance in the last term.

"Tell them a story about a local issue which exposes the Government's incompetence."

Mr Egan said yesterday that he wasn't telling his members what to say but only encouraging them to express their democratic right.

He said he was doing his "bit to help" the Liberals
