Here is a good article on changes to the Freedom of Information laws in Queensland in recent times.
www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,20345770-27197,00.html
This dam campaign has opened my eyes to the way the State Government and its agencies can act act to hide information from the public and manipulate its citizens by controlling the flow of information.
One thing that I have learnt, is that if you see something important on the web, hosted by the government, then download it quickly while it is there.
This even goes as far as daily transcripts of Hansard - which I had previously assumed would be a very solid record of what members had said in Parliament. It appears that Hansard transcripts can be 'edited' by members.
The FOI process now seems to be more a means of frustrating access to public documents, rather than enhancing public access. _________________ "Bad luck ... you dickheads. Suffer in your jocks". (from: the Castle) |

Where I was looking for reference to once proposed “Comet River Dam,” near the township of Comet, situated between Blackwater & Emerald, that never eventuated after a study into the proposal. Reason then given, it was too shallow, evaporation would take the bulk of the water!
These are tributaries of the Fitzroy River System, please look at the following for more on this subject, as the Nathan Dam Proposal can not be argued as too shallow.

You could use the same argument against the travestonswamp proposal!
As the article is not dated I assume the Nathan Dam is still on the Coalitions billboard.
Surprised no one has comented on this, defeted already?
Or don't you think it is relevent? _________________ Raised in S.E.Qld. on small mixed farm with No articulated water. |
