A perfectly viable option with a sustainable outcome, would be for the senate to direct funding to the STMG to pay for a legal challenge and media campaign post any decision by the federal minister, this amount could be the equivalent of what the inquiry might cost and would save everyone a lot of angst and disappointment.
Maybe they could call it 'exceptional circumstances funding for democratic sustainability"? Or " the Boswell Incident"
Why waste valuable tax payers resources on an inquiry which is just a bandaid treatment (feelgood) for the symptom and does not treat the cause ? (the absence of local democratic decision making) .
If we have the lolly to mount a high court challenge to turnbulls final decision , we can get somewhere, just keep saying the magic word"NATHAN DAM" and see how they squirm.
