Log on to the sunwater water trading site as a guest and have a look round. You need to agree to their conditions of use - but you can investigate the pricing structures on the different schemes operated by sunwater.

Queensland water – barriers to water trading
In one of the first public presentations based on QRC’s water strategy, QRC presented a brief paper at the recent Queensland Water conference in Brisbane on 29 August.
QRC’s paper, Barriers to Water Trading, presented some of the issues which, left unaddressed, have the potential to complicate the transition to effective water trading.
The paper reflected the issues discussed at recent meetings of the QRC Water Working Group in focussing on three key challenges:
- the ongoing process (and pace) of agricultural reform, noting that the sector’s progress is hindered by a number of externalities
- some views on the institutionalised price discrimination, which sees different users pay different prices for access to the same water
- the need to move to adopt a system of pricing that more truly reflects costs.
For a copy of the paper, or for more information on QRC’s water strategy, please contact QRC’s Andrew Barger on 3316 2502 or e-mail by clicking the link below.

QRC questions SunWater trading framework
SunWater has developed a self-regulatory framework for governing how they manage their water trading activities. Treasury issued the framework with an accompanying request for comments paper.
QRC’s water working group assisted the QRC Secretariat to prepare a submission, which raised a number of concerns over the extent to which SunWater is structurally intertwined with water markets, making it difficult to see how SunWater’s trading could be competitively neutral.
The submission has generated a series of discussions with SunWater and Treasury, which has allowed members concerns to be raised in further detail.
For copies of the QRC submission, or for more information on QRC’s water working group, please contact QRC’s Andrew Barger on 3316 2502 or e-mail by clicking the link below.
