Academic casts doubt on figures used to justify dam
An academic says the State Government has used outdated information to justify building a dam in southern Queensland.
The Senate Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs is holding an inquiry into additional water supplies for south-east Queensland, including the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam and the Wyaralong Dam near Boonah.
Dr Brad Witt, whose family owns land in the area proposed for the Wyaralong dam, will appear before the committee today.
Dr Witt says he has done vast amounts of research and modelling into the dam's projected water yields.
"The Wyaralong option and the figures that were used to justify the option were outdated and incorrect and hadn't been brought up to date," he said.
"So when they were comparing it against options they were comparing it using updated figures for Glendower but outdated figures for Wyaralong." _________________ CESARE LOMBROSO "The ignorant man always adores what he cannot understand" |

I was very happy to see the folks from Wyaralong get the opportunity to speak before the Senate Inquiry. They have been treated terribly by the State government and largely ignored by the media.
As with the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam, the governments information on Wyaralong has clearly been distorted, untrue and not backed up by factual studies. |
