A wonderful time was had by all who attended the Celebrating with Mary Festival. Great live music, art workshops, kids tent, greens speakers and more. The event was in the middle of the local government election campaign, so many candidates were out supporting the Mary river and signing letters of opposition.
A very dedicated group have continued the huge effort of raising awareness through numerous and varied activities in the past year. Thanks to all who have contributed or attended.
We had a second Monster Auction and Music on the Mary - Wine and cheese at Kandanga. Unfortunately the Kandanga 1000 was cancelled due to EI, but lets hope it continues in 2008. In June 2007 residents of the Mary Valley joined an uplifting choir, "The Joy of Singing". Download the anthem "We Will Not Give Up the Fight" below. In response to the continuous, offensive and misleading propaganda published by the government on the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam, the SMRG produced their own update brochure. (their calendars are excellent too. )
The Save Mary campaign has lots of great merchandise.
