Below is an excerpt from yesterday's Qld Parliament Hansard. Note the section I have highlighted.
The rhetoric has always been 100% certainty of an approval, beause the EIS "stacks up". But a slip of the tongue under pressure revealed what Anna is really thinking. She knows the EIS is facing rejection.

| Quote: | Ms BLIGH: I think it is important for me to place on the record and put beyond doubt that our commitment to the Traveston Crossing Dam remains resolute. Let me be 100 per cent crystal clear: as has been the case since day one, if we receive approval from the Coordinator-General and the federal government, this dam will be built. There has been no change on government policy in this regard, nor has there been any change in the approval processes required by both state and federal legislation. We still expect an approval or a rejection approval—sorry, we still expect an approval decision one way or the other—
Mr Seeney: Come on, Premier; you can do it.
Mr ACTING SPEAKER: Order! Member for Callide!
Mr Johnson: We’re here helping you.
Mr ACTING SPEAKER: Order! Member for Gregory!
Ms BLIGH: Mr Acting Speaker, we still expect an approval decision from the Coordinator-General and the federal government one way or the other in 2009. There is no change in the time frame of the approval processes. What has changed is the advice from the Coordinator-General that any approval is likely to have conditions attached to it, not that there will not be any decision.
Mr Seeney: Tell us about the flying pigs.
Mr ACTING SPEAKER: Order! Member for Callide, I warn you under standing order 253.
Ms BLIGH: What has changed is the recent advice from the Coordinator-General that his approval is likely to be subject to conditions and that those conditions will require some work to be done before construction can start. I think it is very important to understand that there is no delay in the approval time frame. |

That's funny...I thought construction could only start once the FEDERAL approval was given and not after the C-G approval was given.

Thanks for posting that excerpt from the hansard, darren E. It was good for a laugh! Seeney & Johnson's first comments cracked me up. _________________ CESARE LOMBROSO "The ignorant man always adores what he cannot understand" |
