p8
| Quote: | The proponent is required to cause the establishment, protection and
maintenance of further protected riparian habitat and associated in-stream aquatic fauna refuge areas outside the Project Area throughout the catchment via a Catchment Enhancement Program, funded by the proponent to a total of at least $10 million.9
9 Conditions 4 and 5, Schedule C, Appendix 1 |
$10 million .. is that all?? What about the riparian rehabilitation works that has already been done in the catchment that potentially will be inundated that amounts to over $24M over the last 20 years of integrated catchment management that the Mary catchment has won awards for and landholders have put hours of their time into? No mention of that cost to this community.
No budget on the costs it will involve to control cats claw, madiera vine, chinese elm, camphor laurel etc in all this proposed revegetation. They have no practical clue of what is involved in managing these problems. The State can't even control cats claw in state forest..
Recommendation: Call on Minister Garrett to ask for more information on the true costings and detailed management plans. Who is going to supervise and how much will this cost. Where is it being proposed? |
