Lungfish mortality at the North Pine dam spillway

This is a report from the SaveTheMaryRiver Coordinating group submitted to the State and federal governments documenting lungfish deaths and strandings below the spillway of North Pine Dam following planned releases of water over the spillway. Although these events took place in June 2009, no information relating to these and other mass kills of lungfish caused by spillway releases in North Pine and Somerset Dams were submitted by the State Government for consideration of the risks posed by the Traveston Crossing Dam spillway to the survival of lungfish in the Mary River.
